The Heritage Research Grant (HRG) aims to encourage heritage-related research projects for the documentation and preservation of Singapore's Heritage.

There are 5 research topics which the HRG supports:

1. Singapore pre-history and history
2. Intangible cultural heritage
3. Tangible heritage
4. Ethnic heritage
5. Comparative studies of Singapore and Southeast Asia

The HRG is open to academics and researchers from or endorsed by:

1. Local institutes of higher learning (IHLs), think tanks/research institutions
2. Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) registered with:
   • ACRA as a company limited by guarantee
   • Registry of Societies (ROS) as a registered society
   • The Commissioner of Charities (COC) as a charitable trust
